Yesterday I found NOTHING. NOTHING. ANYWHERE. After not going for a day or two. I felt discouraged. Then tonight I found:
A bouquet of tulips at the florist
Tons of single serve chips
3 lbs of chopped pineapple (sell by today)
bag of marshmallows
sausage patties (frozen)
rasberry jalapeno jelly
discovered that the beauty store changed garbage days
I am a thrift store hound, dumpster diver, curb crawler, yard saler, garbage picker, coupon clipper, freebie finder.

After feeling discouraged, I got this!
I was starting to get discouraged by my local beauty dumpster. It had provided a lot of income and a lot of product and then nothing. I believe someone is hitting it. Which is fine, it's not my dumpster. I was surprised to see how possessive I felt about it though. Like, DAMN! I got a few things tonight that I could probably and will probably make money off of. I was beginning to think my diving days were over for this spot, but I just need to keep looking, and be persistant and DIG DEEP. This stuff was hard to find, and was all over the place.

Playing catch up
I could never catch up with all the hauls from the last post to now. I've photographed MOST of them, and one day I'll go back and fill in the blanks.
Dumpster diving has been so fun. Sometimes disappointing, discouraging, and sometimes exciting.
I had almost given up on a particular beauty store, but my son found that last haul and reignited my fire. So I sold MOST of what he found in a DD group online, I donated some of it to a few local organizations. I gave him $20 for a finders fee. And then I kept finding more beauty stuff, myself. I made a couple hundred dollars at LEAST and used the money to line my pockets, and was always in spending money, It was fun, and I got to be frivolous. Buying sodas/coffees, fast food, etc. I bought gas for our car. I paid for Christmas, I paid $25 towards our phone bill. And then the last 2 weeks have been kinda bleh. I haven't felt like diving. I haven't really found anything at the beauty store. I have found a few things here and there, but nothing big. I haven't sold anything for a few weeks either. I even tried to dive at a store while we were out of town, but we got lost then, Ollie threw up in the car, so we called it quits.
I have recently started grocery diving. I find produce - a lot of bananas and potatoes. I freeze the bananas and berries I find and make smoothies. I've found bacon and sausage and biscuit dough. I've found entire cases of yogurt expired that day. I've been able to bless families in town who don't have money for food and are hungry. It's been so fun! Anytime I use something that has been dumpster dived I mention it. I have 2 huge bottles of Olive Oil and a couple gallons of vinegar. I feel blessed to find anything that makes it so I don't have to buy it at the store.
Tonight a local wholesale bakery store threw out tons of Little Debbie and Mission Tortilla chips. I'll pass these off to my friend who has a charity and she'll feed several hungry families. I am so excited that God is using my dumpster diving to help others.
I was also able to make a new friend on FB and he requested "healthy foods". We had a long chat and he was vulnerable about himself. That same night I found sour cream, salad mixes, cauliflower, yogurt, cottage cheese, popcorn, naked juice, bananas and turkey sausages/ground turkey and potatoes. It was like I was diving for him. Today he came over and picked up the food and even picked some chips from last night chip haul. It was so neat to share...

Whoa, a super haul - most donated
Okay, I could not believe my luck! Nearly ALL of this is from one dumpster. I did my usual check of this dumpster and was freaking out. It was a Tuesday night, right. This stores trash pick up was the next morning! It was full to the top. I got probably 85 percent of the goods, but left really old or moldy stuff and stuff that I just couldn't grab. I had to make two trips. I ended up keeping several boxes of treats and 2 bags of chips but the rest went to a local charity that feeds families that can't feed themselves. Oh my gosh. I was so excited. I feel like my dumpster diving has turned into a ministry of sorts. Some of the stuff had just barely expired too. And I taste tested it before giving it away and it was good. Hallelujah, for reals!
